Bax has been supporting Sweden’s leading research institute and innovation partner, RISE, in steering the ACE project from conception to execution. ACE (Accelerating the homecare innovation ecosystem of the future in the North Sea Region) aims to significantly enhance independent living for older adults in the North Sea region by 2030 through homecare innovation. Utilising our expertise in health innovation, project management and strategic communication, we are ensuring the seamless integration of innovative SME solutions into the practices of over 150 homecare providers. ACE not only seeks to revolutionise the delivery of care but also to nurture the growth of local businesses, fostering environments that enhance the well-being of the elderly in participating countries.

Challenge

Europe’s healthcare systems are grappling with significant challenges, including an ageing population and workforce shortages, placing attention on homecare as a solution to reduce the burden on hospitals and primary care. However, conventional homecare models are ill-equipped to handle the anticipated surge in patient numbers over the next decade. Local authorities and healthcare providers, who bear the responsibility for elderly care, are growing increasingly concerned about their capacity to take care of their communities. There’s an urgent need for innovative approaches to enhance homecare services and prevent a potential collapse of the public healthcare system.

Approach

Digital health is widely accepted as a solution for the sustainability of healthcare systems. Spearheading the ACE project proposal and successfully securing its funding, we assembled a diverse consortium of 14 partner organisations to explore the potential of digital health solutions in solving pressing homecare challenges. The ACE project supports local SMEs specialised in homecare innovations to scale up their solutions and successfully navigate the reimbursement path in the participating countries. We continue to support our clients throughout the ACE lifecycle by crafting and executing project and communication plans, and facilitating knowledge management around homecare needs and service providers.
