What if employees of big companies could substantially reduce their commutes by being offered a reallocation to the nearest branch store to their home? What if carpooling could become more spontaneous for ride providers and hailers via the click of an app? How can AI optimise the carbon efficiency of logistics mobility? Bax supports 3 startups with the French Agency for Transport Innovation in a quest to make these propositions a reality. The project pilots the 3 solutions in 4 French cities and prepares startups for scaling across Europe.
The persistent car dependency across Europe’s cities and towns is a complex issue. In order to make strides towards a more climate-neutral society, the project understands the need to break down car-dependency into more tangible challenges to be tackled by innovative solutions. In particular, the project supports, guides and scales 3 startups solving challenges related to last-mile logistics (DEKI), commuting (1km à pied) and low car occupancy (Ynstant).
Approach
The project takes 3 startups from the French Government’s acceleration programme Propulse to new heights (from TRL-7 to TRL-9). The startups pilot their solutions in real life scenarios across multiple French locations (Métropole du Grand Paris, Métropole de Rouen, Métropole de Toulouse, Agglomération de Nevers), work to improve the aspects beyond technology that bottleneck their success, and prepare to scale beyond the French market via an internationalisation plan to Barcelona. Bax supports the coordinator, manages the piloting process and provides innovation management guidance to startups.
