One urban planning instrument gaining traction is the <strong>green axis<\/strong> &#8211; a continuous corridor of green spaces and pedestrian-prioritised areas that meaningfully reconnect urban environments with nature. Avec plus de <strong>40 millions de tonnes de<\/strong> d\u00e9chets attendus d&rsquo;ici 2050, l&rsquo;industrie doit passer d&rsquo;un mod\u00e8le lin\u00e9aire<em>\u00ab\u00a0prendre-fabriquer-jeter<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb \u00e0 un mod\u00e8le circulaire qui recycle et r\u00e9utilise les mat\u00e9riaux tout au long du cycle de vie de l&rsquo;\u00e9olienne.  <\/p>\n<p>Cette question est cruciale non seulement d&rsquo;un point de vue environnemental, mais aussi d&rsquo;un point de vue \u00e9conomique. Les pratiques actuelles en mati\u00e8re de d\u00e9chets perp\u00e9tuent la d\u00e9pendance \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9gard de ressources limit\u00e9es telles que le p\u00e9trole et la silice, ce qui compromet la viabilit\u00e9 \u00e0 long terme du secteur \u00e9olien. Historically, this valley served as a vital natural corridor, linking coastal, mountainous, and inland ecosystems. Nowadays, industrial expansion and railway and highway connections have fragmented the municipality\u2019s access to nature.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"577\" data-end=\"1077\">In response to these challenges, the municipality has developed a plan to <strong>reconnect its urban fabric with the surrounding natural capital<\/strong> \u2014 namely, the nearby mountain areas and the Llobregat River \u2014 through the implementation of a <strong>green axis running from the eastern to the western edge of the municipality.<\/strong> This green axis will enhance ecological connectivity for local vegetation and wildlife, reinforce the links between river and mountain ecosystems, and contribute to biodiversity regeneration.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sant Andreu de la Barca understands that, <\/span><b>although it&rsquo;s a small municipality, it\u2019s a dense and heavily paved one<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The implementation of a green axis thus integrates quality green infrastructure into the urban grid to mitigate the effects of climate events, helping to reduce heat stress in summer and filter rainwater more effectively.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From a citizen perspective, the green axis will navigate through Sant Andreu de la Barca\u2019s main streets, <\/span><b>connecting socially relevant buildings<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> like the town theatre, the sports centre, two schools, and the city hall. This transformation is expected to have a <\/span><b>positive impact on the vibrancy and liveability<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of<\/span>\u00a0the town centre, encouraging walking, improving access to services, and creating a more pleasant, greener public realm.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The municipality <\/span>is involving all the necessary stakeholders<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the planning phase, mainly partnering up with the Barcelona Metropolitan Authority to support the technical planning of the green axis. Bax also supported the municipality in framing the green axis intervention as part of a city-wide strategy to boost health and biodiversity, aligning its impact with national-level targets. These collaborations have <\/span><b>equipped the small municipality with the planning capacity<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> needed to pursue an ambitious urban greening project.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, the municipality hopes to track the success of the green axis via a <\/span><b>rigorous monitoring strategy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to evaluate the success of the green axis in terms of climate adaptation, air quality, biodiversity, and public health.
