The position

Key Responsibilities include:

Bax is seeking an innovation consultant to join our public mobility team at our headquarters in Barcelona.

We expect you to participate in different assignments that may cover substantially different fields, you will work within our team on consultancy engagements focused on the evolving landscape of public mobility, with a particular emphasis on automation and digitalisation in public transport (e.g., shared automated vehicles, demand responsiveness bus depot automation, and other innovative transport solutions).

Your role will involve supporting strategy development, project management, and the delivery of innovative solutions in this field.

Project Design and Implementation Support: Assist in the design and execution of innovation initiatives focused on automation in public transport and sustainable public mobility solutions. These projects may involve various funding sources.

Project Support and Conceptualisation: Contribute to managing and conceptualizing projects at the forefront of future public mobility. Support the successful delivery of results to our clients, focusing on the integration and advancement of automation in public transport.

Impact Assessment: Help evaluate the economic, environmental, and societal impacts of innovative public transport automation pilot projects. Contribute to developing future scenarios and providing strategic recommendations to public and private sector clients.

Background and profile:

We seek ambitious, fast-learning candidates who have an affinity with technology, business, and innovation and a strong ambition for fast professional growth in a small and highly specialised consultancy firm.

  • Education: A completed MSc or PhD in in a field related to mobility, public transport, urban planning, engineering, economics, or relevant areas.
  • Experience: Ideally 0-3 years of professional or academic experience (e.g., internships, thesis projects, or initial job roles) in the public mobility or transport sector, with a demonstrated interest or background in automation in public transport (e.g., shared automated vehicles, bus depot automation).
  • Languages: Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in German or Dutch is a strong asset.
  • Writing skills: strong writing skills are required; both with and without the use of AI; we need you to enjoy and be good at creating convincing arguments, and easily translating complex technical concepts into clear and compelling business language.
  • Writing skills: we expect a great deal of autonomy and proactivity, being able to communicate professionally with partners and clients, managing and leading discussions and public presentations.
