The position

Bax is seeking an urban planner/regional economic development specialist with 2-3 years of experience to join our Local Energy Systems team as an innovation consultant [1] at our headquarters in Barcelona:

We expect you to participate in different assignments that cover a range of energy topics such as developing local energy systems / smart grids, city energy action planning, public sector-led business models and positive energy neighbourhoods. 

Your role will involve supporting strategy development, project management, and the delivery of innovative solutions in this field.

Key Responsibilities include:

Project Design and Implementation Support: Assist in the design and execution of innovation initiatives focused on local energy systems and energy efficiency solutions. These projects may involve various funding sources.

Project Support and Conceptualisation: Contribute to managing and conceptualising projects at the forefront of local energy systems. Support the successful delivery of results to our clients, focusing on the integration and advancement of renewable energy technologies.

Impact Assessment: Help evaluate the economic, environmental, and societal impacts of innovative renewable energy pilot projects. Contribute to developing future scenarios and providing strategic recommendations to public and private sector clients.

The candidates we are seeking

We are seeking an ambitious, fast-learning candidate with a passion for renewable energy, who is eager for career advancement in a boutique consultancy focused on real impact.

  • Education: A completed MSc in a field related to business, economics, urban planning or relevant areas.

  • Experience: Ideally 2-3 years of professional experience in the energy sector or with local/regional authorities, and a demonstrated interest or background in renewable energy projects.

  • Languages: Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in Dutch, German, or another European language is a strong asset.
  • Writing skills: Strong writing skills are required; both with and without the use of AI; we need you to enjoy and be good at creating convincing arguments, and easily translating complex technical concepts into clear and compelling business language.

  • Soft skills: we expect a great deal of autonomy and proactivity, being able to communicate professionally with partners and clients, managing and leading discussions and public presentations.
