Vacancy:
Project Lead in Mobility and Logistics Planning

The company

At Bax, we work with cities, regions, companies, research organisations, universities, and European networks to turn bold ideas into real-world change. We are a strategy and innovation consultancy based in Barcelona, specialised in sustainable innovation. We spend our days helping partners across Europe design, test, and scale solutions that make mobility cleaner, smarter, more inclusive, and more human.

Our Mobility and Logistics Planning team works on some of the most exciting transitions happening in Europe today: inclusive transport systems, integrated transport solutions, active and shared mobility, zero-emission urban logistics, connected and automated mobility, spatial planning, and policy development.

We are now looking for a new colleague with experience in transport, GIS, quantitative analysis, and EU-funded projects. This is a role for someone who enjoys connecting the dots: between data and policy, maps and people, European projects and local realities, strategy and implementation. Someone who is curious, proactive, organised, and excited by the idea of working with inspiring partners across Europe

The position

You will join a small, international, and energetic team. You will typically be involved in several projects at the same time, working closely with colleagues and external partners from across Europe. Depending on your background and interests, your work may include:

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Developing, managing and coordinating tasks within EU-funded innovation projects, especially within Horizon Europe and Interreg. Some of our current projects include GreenTurn, which works with e-commerce stakeholders to co-create zero-emission delivery and return solutions; RESKILLING, which helps prepare Europe’s mobility workforce for connected and automated mobility; and Diversify-CCAM, which explores how cultural, geographical, and policy factors shape fair and accessible automated mobility.
  • Using GIS and spatial analysis to understand mobility patterns, identify challenges, support planning decisions, and communicate insights clearly.
  • Designing and facilitating engagement processes, workshops, interviews, co-creation sessions, and stakeholder meetings with public authorities, companies, researchers, transport operators, and civil society organisations.

  • Helping develop policy recommendations, strategic roadmaps, implementation plans, and practical guidance for cities, regions, and European partners.
  • Assessing economic, environmental and societal impact of innovative pilots, defining future scenarios and applying different methodologies for data collection and analysis.
  • Business modelling and definition of exploitation strategies to support the implementation of new solutions and services.
  • Translating technical and project-based knowledge into clear, engaging reports, presentations, proposals, and communication materials.
  • Building relationships with European transport players and contributing to new ideas, proposals, and initiatives.

The candidates we are seeking

We are looking for someone with around 3–5 years of relevant experience. You do not need to tick every box, but we would love to hear from you if you recognise yourself in this profile:

  • Your background: You probably have a master’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as urban planning, transport planning, mobility, engineering, environmental studies, data analysis, or sustainability. You have a strong interest in the transition towards more sustainable, inclusive, and future-proof mobility systems.
  • Your technical skills: You bring strong GIS and quantitative skills and are confident working with spatial data. You know how to turn geospatial analysis into insights that non-technical audiences can understand and use. Experience with tools such as QGIS, ArcGIS, Python, R, dashboards, mobility datasets, network analysis, or spatial visualisation would be a strong plus.
  • Your project experience: You have worked on European or international projects, ideally in mobility-related fields. You understand how multi-partner projects work and are comfortable coordinating tasks, deadlines, deliverables, meetings, and partner input. Experience with Horizon Europe, Interreg, or similar European programmes and networks would be especially valuable.
  • Your people skills: You enjoy working with people. You can facilitate discussions, listen actively, ask good questions, and help different stakeholders find common ground. You are comfortable engaging with cities, regions, companies, universities, transport authorities, associations, and NGOs. You bring energy to meetings and structure to complex conversations.
  • Your policy and writing skills: You can write clearly and persuasively. You enjoy turning research, data, and stakeholder input into convincing recommendations, reports, strategies, and policy-oriented outputs. You are able to communicate complex ideas without hiding behind jargon.
  • Your language skills: Excellent English is essential. We are looking for someone with C2-level English, or equivalent professional fluency, because most of our projects and writing are in English. French or Dutch would be a strong plus. Other European languages are also welcome.
  • Your way of working: You are proactive, curious, organised, and not afraid to take initiative. You like learning fast, taking ownership, and contributing ideas. You are comfortable working in a small consultancy environment where people support each other, responsibilities grow quickly, and no two weeks look exactly the same.
