Kees Joosten is managing director of the Dutch office. Besides coaching the team of consultants and trainees, he is involved in several assignments. His expertise lies in transferring ideas, policies or strategies into action. He is experienced in exploring trends and defining new business opportunities. In the past 25 years Kees successfully created R&D-programs, built partnerships and managed collaborative projects. He has a track record in preparing business plans, coaching start-ups and managing a new initiative.
Kees has extensive knowledge in recycling & circular economy, digitalisation & datafication, climate adaptation & environmental management in domains like the maritime & port sector and smart industry.
After graduating from the Technical University Delft (Industrial design engineering) in 1991, Kees joined Willems & van den Wildenberg, the predecessor of Bax & Company. A wide variety of consultancy projects were successfully delivered. Ranging from improvement of the R&D-process at SMEs, policy advice to the set up and management of European collaborative projects. He continued his career in 2005 as R&D manager at Port of Rotterdam authority. He developed and implemented an innovation strategy, which resulted in intense cooperation with universities, research institutions, port companies, start-ups, local government and other port authorities.
In 2012 Kees switched to one of the universities he worked with. At the Rotterdam University of applied sciences he developed a new research center: Sustainable Mainport Innovation. This center for applied research grew in two years to 18 professors and 60 researchers. As strategy consultant to the board, he contributed to the Corporate Strategy 2025.
At the end of 2016 Kees reunited with his study mate, former business partner and friend Laszlo Bax to set up the Dutch branch office in Rotterdam.
Kees has two bright sons. He spends his weekends with his girlfriend, taking long walks in the woods, over the heathland and along the beach. Always on the lookout for a great photo opportunity, Kees takes his camera everywhere he goes.
