CASE STUDY

Developing and piloting the Netherlands’ first Energy-as-an-Asset strategy for a real estate owner

Clients: Stedin, De Alliantie, City of Amersfoort, and the Province of Utrecht.

Bax & Company supported leading Dutch housing provider De Alliantie to turn on-site renewables into a revenue-generating asset through services to the local grid. In collaboration with the City of Amersfoort, we designed a sector-first energy-as-a-service contract model allowing De Alliantie to outsource the operations of a grid-friendly battery installed in an apartment building.

Cities and housing providers need to be proactive in dealing with congestion and capacity issues. Smart storage innovations that treat energy as an asset will become central to delivering net zero, locally-powered cities in the next decade.
